Breakfast

Sweet and Sour

I try to locate people including relatives, friends and acquaintances and normally do not surrender till I reach a logical conclusion.  I was having contact with a person for several years from last 5 decades and few years ago I realized that I lost touch with that person for nearly 30 years. I made an attempt to locate that person. I made several phone calls to people who were known to that person. Many people said that they don’t have the address/contact number and some others asked me to contact again after few hours/days etc so that they could check back. Nobody gave me a return call giving the details or reply. Since it was my job to locate the person, I repeatedly rang up the persons who gave me a little hope. At last, somebody gave me the contact number and by the time it was time to return to Delhi from Kerala. I rang up the person and explained the whole story. I told that person that since I had to return to Delhi next day, I can come early in the morning.

Next day, I boarded a bus at 5 AM. I had to wake up around 4 AM to take bath and get ready to start. I reached my host’s place around 6.30 AM. We talked for about one hour in the reminiscence of old days. While saying good bye to my host at around 7.30 AM, I was told that since some repair work is going in the house, no arrangements were made for preparing Idli/Dosa. I am a very flexible person, and I can have anything for breakfast including Banana, Kanji (Rice water) or boiled tapioca etc. (There was no evidence of repair work in the front side of the house, courtyard or compound.) Since I was terribly hungry, I could not wait till I reached home and had breakfast at a hotel near the bus stand before boarding bus to Pattambi reroute to Edapal.

I was wondering whether it was worth to take all the trouble to locate the person and meet the person despite having time constraints. However, I consoled myself that life is a mixture of good, bad and ugly experiences.

However, such unsavoury incidents did not deter me to continue my pursuit in searching friends and acquaintances, many of them I could not trace till date.
