Better Late Than Never

It is a  welcome relief that at last wiser counsel prevailed and India took retaliatory measures. Every time when a citizen of the country is harassed or humiliated, Government do a ritual by sending a 'strongly worded' letter and there ends the matter. When similar incident recurs, we  will continue the ritual with another strongly worded letter. Repetition of such incidents at regular intervals suggest that other countries give scant regard to our letters and treat our utterances as   that of a barking dog only which seldom bites. It will be interesting to imagine as to what would have been the reaction of US Administration, if a similar incident had happened in  India. Similar is the case with our neighboring countries also which execute their nefarious plans at their sweet will with almost total impunity.  It is pathetic to see small countries barking to India as if a mouse is frightening a cat. Government's counter attack though belated in this case may have many cascading effects  but we cannot compromise on the dignity of the nation and its citizens at any cost. We should also generate international opinion about such reprehensible acts by a country which claims to  be the most liberal in the world. If there is a world wide protest in solidarity to India, US administration will have no alternative but to mend its ways.
