About 40 years ago, one day I got down at Mandi House bus stop. I asked a person waiting for the bus “Kendriya sachivalaya kaun si bus jayegi ?”. (Which bus will go to Central Secretariat?). He said “Pata Nahi” (Don’t know). I repeated this question to 2 more people and the reply was same. I had an idea that Kendriya Sachivalaya is near to Mandi House. Hence I was surprised with the answers of the passengers. I again asked to one of the person “Central Secretariat kaun si bus jayegi?” Quick came the reply “Aise Hindi me poocho, tabhi toh hamare samaj me aayega". (You ask in Hindi, and then only we will understand). 

During 1980 my wife had to appear for a test of the BSRB (Banking Service Recruitment Board) at Ghaziabad, I asked my colleague about the location, who advised me to take a bus to Ghaziabad and get down at clock tower, which is a prominent location and from there it is walking distance to the examination centre. Before reaching Ghaziabad, I asked one of the co passengers “Clock Tower Kitna dour hai?” (How far is clock tower from here?) “Maloom nahi” (Don’t know). I repeated the question to two more passengers and the reply was same/similar. Another passenger who overheard the conversation asked”Ghantaghar?” I thought for a while, Ghanta means clock. Yes Ghantaghar. He told me that he is also getting down at the same stop and I need not worry. After getting down at Ghantaghar, he asked us as to where we want to go. I told him the purpose of our visit and the name of the school. He accompanied us up to the school gate.
