Marathon
Swimming
Today morning while going for swimming it was
drizzling. I did not return. I was the first person to jump into the pool
overtaking carwalas. Immediately rain became heavy. There were only a handful
of faithful swimmers. Many must have returned midway and many others may not
have even started from home. Swimming while raining is a captivating experience
with water both below and above. Swimming in the pond, river and lake are much
more exciting than swimming in the swimming pool. With heavy rain, swimming in
the pool had a semi natural feeling. One can fully enjoy the rain when the rain
drops hit on your bare body and there is no better place than the swimming
pool. Rarely one gets such opportunity in Delhi. Swimmers who missed today’s
session should avail the next opportunity and can decide themselves as to which
is more enjoyable-swimming in the rain or sleeping in the closed room. After
one hour swimming session was over, there were no swimmers in the second shift.
So myself and two other boys decided to have a second shift swimming. Thus
today I swam about 2 hours covering roughly 1800 Kilometers, sorry meters. One
kilometer of swimming will be equivalent to 10KM running.
Despite torrential rain many of my young
friends had a 10K run at Nehru Park Chanakyapuri. A big salute to the
indomitable spirit of the brave boys. People who search Bahana (Excuse) for anything and everything should learn from these
boys how not to make Bahana
